In August 2022 ECORP added a SenseFly eBee Geo to our growing fleet of small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). The eBee Geo is a fixed-wing sUAS with extended battery life that is capable of flying and mapping 1,500 or more acres per day. The result is high-resolution orthomosaic imagery that’s compatible with Computer-aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping. Flights with the sUAS are repeatable and allow ECORP’s licensed pilots to quickly obtain mapping data.
The orthomosaic imagery can be used in several ways including vegetation mapping, mapping drainages for aquatic resources delineations, documenting change over time, and restoration success monitoring. The SenseFly eBee platform is the first and currently the only sUAS to be approved for Operations Over People (OOP) and moving vehicles by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and it is approved for use by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
