Immersive Acoustic Experience – Balboa Noise Walk

Participants evaluate the effect of a noise barrier by comparing freeway noise levels before and after the line of sight to the roadway is blocked.

ECORP recently hosted a one-of-a-kind Immersive Acoustic Experience in San Diego’s Balboa Park on May 29, 2026. Led by ECORP’s Senior Noise Analyst Alejandro Garcia and assisted by Chirstopher Uminski, the event allowed our agency partners to experience first-hand the effects of environmental acoustics and how we measure and assess them in everyday outdoor settings.

By encouraging participants to “tune in” to their surroundings, Alejandro and Christopher demonstrated how urban soundscapes are shaped by major transportation noise sources such as freeways and aircraft flying over Balboa Park as they approach their landing strip at San Diego International Airport. With our professional-grade sound level meters, they demonstrated how factors like distance, topography, barriers, and vegetation influence sound levels in ways that matter to both regulators and the public.

At ECORP, our technical experts provide the insight and guidance needed to navigate regulatory requirements, minimize impacts, and build community trust. To learn more about ECORP’s noise analysis services, visit our website at https://www.ecorpconsulting.com/services/noise/
