Gill Ranch Conservation Bank

The Gill Ranch Conservation Bank (Bank) is located in southeastern Sacramento County and consists of approximately 1,810 acres of vernal pool grassland. ECORP Consulting, Inc. began working on the overall Gill Ranch (Ranch) in 2003, starting with conducting a wetland delineation on over 10,000 acres of the Ranch. Additional resource assessments such as surveys for federally listed vernal pool invertebrates and cultural resources surveys were also conducted. The conservation bank portion of the bank was established in 2007. ECORP drafted the Conservation Bank Agreement, including the long-term management plan, credit evaluation, conservation easement, and other essential components of the agreement. The covered species for the bank are vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lynchi) and vernal pool tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus packardi).
