Sensitive Small Mammal Trapping in Support of HCP Baseline Studies for the Imperial Irrigation District

ECORP Consulting, Inc. conducted focused spring and fall small mammal sensitive species trapping surveys at over 25 locations throughout the Imperial Valley from near the southwestern edge of the Salton Sea to the west side of the Colorado River near Yuma, Arizona. Surveys were conducted in support of the future preparation of a Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan for lands under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Irrigation District (IID). IID is the largest irrigation district in the nation and their service area encompasses the Imperial Valley from the Salton Sea to the Mexican border. Presence/absence surveys were conducted for several California Species of Special Concern including: Jacumba pocket mouse, Palm Springs pocket mouse, Arizona cotton rat, and Colorado River hispid cotton rat.
