EARLY REGISTRATION FOR THE DESERT TORTOISE SYMPOSIUM ENDS ON JANUARY 18TH!

The 39th Annual Desert Tortoise Symposium will be held from February 21st through 23rd at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Ontario, California. The registration fee will increase after January 18th so register as quickly as you can! This year’s Meeting and Symposium will honor Dr. Robert C. Stebbins, a famous herpetologist in western North America and author of a Field Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians and many other books and scientific and educational papers. Dr. Stebbins passed away two months ago at the age of 98. He was a frequent guest at Desert Tortoise Council symposia and a very popular author and artist. The variety of speakers at the Symposium will address the impacts of climate change and solar development on desert tortoises, the latest research on diseases and genetics, the results of population and behavior studies, the status of tortoises in the Mojave Desert, and recent government actions affecting the tortoise. A special session will focus on many aspects of golden eagles living in the desert, including determinants of flight behavior, demography and movement near wind farms, and long-term population trends.
